A Couple of Birds

Yesterday was E's 7th birthday and what a joy it was to be able to be there and share his special day.  Today we're all heading off to a holiday park in Anglesea, about an hour's drive away.  We were packed up and the Airbnb cleaned in good time so we went for an early morning walk along the Barwon River.

The closest I've been able to get to a Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo so far.

And bless its heart, it stayed put and even had a drink.

So handsome

This is a different bird and the first time I've been able to capture one with its crest up.  I can almost hear the screeching!

Grey Fantail

A very sweet Galah

I knew this was a lapwing but I'd not seen a "Masked Lapwing" before.

I read that there are resident kangaroos at the holiday park and sure enough on the first night this old fella was grazing on a nearby lawn - awful photos as it was dusk.
