Family Time 7 - Anglesea

Our last morning at Anglesea and the Sulphur Cockatoos visited our cabin en masse to say their goodbyes.

They really are so comical - crest down.

Crest up!

And they're very dextrous; using their feet to feed.

"can I whisper in your ear?"

"............ promise you won't tell anyone"

After we'd packed up and left, Ian and I drove back to Geelong via Anglesea Golf Club where 5 years ago we wandered around the course enjoying the large number of kangaroos there.  This is no longer allowed although the organised pay tours still run.  We spotted this collared female from a distance.

But we didn't go any closer as she was clearly nursing her joey.

We also stopped off at Bells Beach to see if any surfing was happening.  The prestigious Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach competition was being held there the following week and so one car park was closed for event construction vehicles and the other was full of surfers practising.

It's hard to present the view but you're looking practically vertically from the top of the cliffs.

There are wooden steps leading almost to the beach but from there it's quite a big drop down to the rocks - how they walk on them barefoot I don't know.

We decided to follow this girl as her wetsuit wasn't black like all the others.

We have no idea who she was or if she was any good but her fellow competitors appeared to be looking on in admiration in the first couple of shots.

And meanwhile a paraglider was circling overhead.

After a couple of hours with the family back in Geelong we said our tearful farewells and headed back to Melbourne to drop the car off and have another night at the airport hotel ready for our flight to Cairns tomorrow.  We've had a fantastic time with them and hope we can do a repeat visit before another 5 years pass by.
